‘Shippen’ is a Devonian word for a cowshed. This particular shippen is a sunken, tumbledown, charming shed of rough stone and rusted metal. Through intensive on-site research and drawing workshops, Studio MASH investigated the possibility of transforming it into a wheelchair accessible cottage, while holding on to (and celebrating!) the ramshackle character of the existing building. The project is soon progressing to planning, once funds become available.
