A comprehensive refurbishment and rear extension to a family house in Abbey Wood. Our alterations established two parallel circulation routes through the ground floor of the house: one connecting dining, cooking and living and the other entrance, cloaks, utility and garden. The large rear extension adds a new volume of brick to the existing patchwork. Brick bonding is used as ornament. One corner of the extension is peeled back to reveal black tile and glass beneath the brick skin at the threshold between the kitchen and the garden.
As well as designing and managing the project from the initial planning application through to completion on site, studio MASH designed and supplied bespoke cabinetry in collaboration with WG Studios.
